Nadav and Pearl Gasner recently moved to Hamilton in the summer of 2020. They first met through their involvement in JLIC at Greater Toronto, where they spearheaded several panel discussions on mental health. Nadav and Pearl are so excited for the opportunity to bring OU-JLIC to the students at McMaster University, and to join this vibrant Jewish community!
Nadav Gasner grew up in Thornhill, Canada, where he attended Yeshivat Or Chaim. After high school, Nadav spent a year learning in Yeshivat Lev HaTorah in Israel. He completed his undergraduate degree in biophysics at York University, and is currently in his first year of medical school at McMaster. Throughout his undergrad degree, Nadav participated in and promoted local programs for Jewish learning, ranging from NCSY to a university night shiur at the local kollel. Nadav is also the founding president of the Jewish Medical Student Association at McMaster where he organizes programming that explores the relevance of Jewish ideas and concepts to the practice of medicine.
Pearl Gasner was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She attended TanenbaumCHAT before receiving a bachelor’s of Interior Design from Ryerson University. While in university, Pearl became very involved in NCSY and realized how much she loved teaching Torah, so she decided to switch paths and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School in Jewish Education. In addition to running JLIC McMaster, Pearl is also the High School Advisor for Hasbara Fellowships Canada, where she has the privilege of training high school students across North America to become leaders in the Israel advocacy movement. Pearl is passionate about Jewish learning, and spends much of her free time providing formal and informal learning opportunities for young Jewish women of all backgrounds.
